Module 1: What Is Marker Training?
A Marker is a word, sound, or signal that Marks the precise moment your dog performs a behavior, acting as a “Bridge” between the behavior and the reward or punishment. This method is effective because it allows for immediate feedback, which is essential for learning.
A Marker is a word, sound, or signal used to pair or bridge a reward or punishment to an action, stimuli, trigger, etc.
You can establish clear communication with any dog by using a system of Markers (the word or sound (e.g. clicker) that marks a behavior your dog just did as: good or bad, right or wrong, encouraged or discouraged, continued or released).
